Onboarding your staff & students
Once you are ready to get started, our onboarding team will contact you and ask
which of the options below you would like to use. We will accompany you through
the entire process. Here are the key steps for each solution we can offer.
If your district has access to ClassLink's Roster Server application, News-O-Matic can synchronize rosters data from ClassLink. Here's how it works:
1. Add News-O-Matic to your ClassLink’s Roster Server app to enable data sharing.
2. Make sure to set up sharing filters to share only the data you need.
3. News-O-Matic will activate the sync, and inform you when accounts are set up.
4. Look for News-O-Matic in ClassLink’s App Library, select the OAuth2 version, and assign it to your staff and students.
If your district uses Clever, News-O-Matic can synchronize rosters data from your Clever portal*.
Here's how it works:
1. The News-O-Matic team will send you a data-sharing request.
2. Once approved, you will set up sharing filters to share only the data you need.
3. News-O-Matic will activate the sync, and inform you when accounts are set up.

integrations
or SSO options
News-O-Matic offers data integration and SSO with multiple Student Information Systems with the help of its onboarding partner GG4L (Global Grid for Learning). GG4L is a public benefit corporation that offers edtech solutions to schools at no cost, and secure SIS data roster exchange. GG4L’s platform, School Passport 2.0, is a safe way for schools to share login information with edtech platforms.
It is already used by 20,000+ schools and districts.
Here's how it works:
1. Tell us what Student Information System you use for rosters data, and which is your preferred authentication method. We can offer Google SSO or Microsoft Azure.
2. Based on this information, we will send you the appropriate instructions to transfer rosters data, either through a secure API connection between your SIS and GG4L, or by uploading CSV files in the OneRoster format to GG4L’s SFTP server.
3. We will then ask you to validate the data transfer. Once data has synced with News-O-Matic, we will perform a few tests and inform you when accounts are set up.
