CONTEST DETAILS/RULES
WHO: There are TWO writing contests! One is for students 10 years old or younger. The other is for students between the ages of 11 and 14. This contest is open to students in any country.
WHAT: Write a fun Halloween story! This year’s theme is Time Travel Terrors. All stories should feature an aspect of time or the time period changing. The past and the future are both okay to use. Out-of-the-box ideas are encouraged, so clock in and get creative!
All submissions must be original work by the student. The use of AI is not allowed, and all finalists will be screened for AI-generated content.
Stories must not be more than 300 words.
There is no charge to enter, so students can submit as many stories as they’d like! Students may submit alone or as part of a group. Students may also choose to send in a poem.
WHEN: The final day to submit entries is Sunday, October 18.
WHY: Two grand-prize winners will be published in News-O-Matic articles. There will be one winner for each age range: 10 and younger and 11 to 14. Each winner will also get a $100 gift card!
HOW: Submit entries using the form below. Each entry should include the student's name and age, a guardian's or teacher's email address, and a story title.
