Writing Contests

CONTEST DETAILS/RULES
WHO: There are TWO writing contests! One is for students 10 years old or younger. The other is for students between the ages of 11 and 14. This contest is open to children in any country.
WHAT: Write a fun Halloween story! This year’s theme is Menacing Monsters. Stories can feature creatures of any kind — including newly made-up monsters or classic creepers. All submissions must be original work. Stories must not be more than 300 words. There is no charge to enter, so students can submit as many stories as they’d like! Students may submit alone or as part of a group. Students may also choose to send in a poem.
WHEN: All entries must be submitted by noon (E.T.) on Thursday, October 20.
WHY: Two grand-prize winners will be published in News-O-Matic articles. There will be one winner for each age range: 10 and younger and 11 to 14. Each winner will also get a $50 Visa gift card!
HOW: Submit entries using the form below. Each entry should include the student's name and age, a guardian's or teacher's email address, and a story title.
